Bogdan is a Ukranian triathlete who comes from a swimming background. He talks to Sundried about his journey.
Have you always been into sports?
Yes, I always enjoyed sport. In my childhood I played football. At high school, I played volleyball and went swimming.
How did you first get into triathlon?
I did swimming at university and sometimes trained with my coach who also trained triathletes. Once I entered a competition I realised how much I enjoyed it.
What's been your favourite race to date and why?
My favourite race was the Ukrainian Championship mixed relay. It was an emotionally and physically intense race as after the second stage our team was 7th but we managed to finish 3rd.
What's your proudest achievement?
I took third place at the Ukrainian Championship in the mixed relay.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
Yes, I often find a race isn't going to plan due to injuries or accidents. But it makes me stronger and more resilient.
How do you overcome setbacks?
Each setback makes me stronger. It's important not to give up and try to achieve the goal and work even harder. My parents and coach are my main supporters. They always help me and believe in me.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Believe in yourself and your strength and listen to your body.
What are your goals?
My main goal is to participate in the Olympic Games.
Who inspires you?
My friends and athletes who have already achieved good results in sport inspire me. By watching them, I am motivated to work even harder.
