Luke Reed - Athlete Ambassador
Have you always been into sport?
Yes as teenager and in my 20's I played football and cricket, and I started to run to keep fit for these sports.
How did you first get into triathlon?
A work colleague suggested training for 3 sports was more interesting that just running, so I gave it as go and he was not wrong!
If you are interested in getting into Triathlon, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available.
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
So many over the past 14 years, but I really enjoyed racing for GB for the first time in Holland 2019 for the European Champs. Was great to have my wife and kids there watching.
What is your proudest achievement?
Without doubt qualifying and racing for the GB age group team.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
A few! 4 punctures in one race! Ended up running back to my car to get a spare set of wheels so I could finish the race! Also put someone else's trainers on in transition for the run stage of a triathlon. Problem is they were 3 sizes too small!!
How do you overcome setbacks?
I go back to basics, keep things simple and start the process again from the beginning. Always working hard!
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Good question! Being a triathlete in the UK means a very long winter of dark, cold, wet and windy training sessions…or, Beware, triathlon is very addictive!!!!
What are your goals?
My goal is to race for GB, and one day stand on the podium at an international race! I also want to inspire people to have a go at what I do.
Who inspires you?
Lots of people. Some of my triathlon friends, namely Donald Brooks, an absolutely fantastic athlete, at 45 still improving. Richard Easton who I have always looked up to since I started triathlon, always full of good advice. My wife for losing 4 stone and running her first 10k, my mum for beating cancer! I am inspired by anyone who is prepared to have a go and work hard to achieve their goals.
Why work with Sundried?
I really like the fresh range and variety of products. Seem to have listed to athletes needs. Great quality goods and very well priced!
