Tony Dixon - Athlete Ambassador
Have you always been into sport?
Yes, I played basketball in college and always took an interest in American sports, basketball and American football. From there I progressed towards the gym and then into very casual mountain biking before falling in love with road cycling in 2020
How did you first get into cycling?
I rode a mountain bike on and off for years and bought a turbo trainer just before lockdown started. A good friend of mine races part time and convinced me to look at road bikes. I ordered my first road bike and immediately fell in love with the sport, the freedom of being on the bike on the open road and being in that riding position was something I wasn't getting from the mountain bike. I got addicted to that feeling and the buzz I felt when returning home from a ride. I still get that feeling today.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
It's easy to get caught up on metrics and what everyone else is doing and achieving. Just go out there and ride your bike and enjoy it, progress will follow.
What are your goals?
- Complete my first Century ride
- Climb the North East climbs featured in the top 100 climbs
- Complete a few sportives
Who inspires you?
The Yates twins are inspirational for their hill climbing ability. Chris Froome for his consistency and leadership in a team. A true people's champ.
Why work with Sundried?
The products produced for the price range are an excellent quality, these have been tested over time, multiple washes and I have even come off the bike at a reasonable speed and didn't suffer any tears in the clothing. Generally all around good quality and comfortable.
