Sophie Cheesman - Athlete Ambassador
Have you always been into sport?
I have always been into sport from a very young age! Running, cycling, tennis you name it.
How did you first get into triathlon?
I first got into triathlon at Uni in 2013 where I competed in the BUCS Sprint Triathlon.
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
My favourite race to date has been the Brighton and Hove Triathlon as it is in my home town and you get the beautiful sea vibes and it is a fantastic atmosphere!
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement to date is marathon related but competing in both the London and Brighton marathon 2 weeks apart and only 30 seconds difference between the times.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
A racing disaster was more entertaining where by I was involved in the National Aquathlon Championships at Arundel and during the swim my siting was not quite right so I ended up swimming into some weeds and my Garmin got caught.
How do you overcome setbacks?
Overcoming set backs, it is important to keep positive as not only is it tough but if you think about the long term outcome and never ever to give up.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
What are your goals?
Who inspires you?
Sophie Coldwell inspires me as she is of a similar age and I love how she just gets up and perseveres no matter what. Her training and performances are always so inspiring to watch.
