Have you always been into sport?

From a young age I was always into Mountain biking, I then decided to have a go at the racing side of things. I soon realised you had to be pretty fit for XC racing but at that age I didn't really want to train! Ha! I then moved over to Downhill Mountain Bike Racing which I did for a few years based in the south west. Managed to take part in a couple National Series events too which was a great experience. Downhill racing suited me far better, it was quite close to my roots of Motocross to which I have followed since I was a kid.

If you are interested in getting into cycling, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available.

How did you first get into Motocross?

My Dad and Uncle raced when I was young, I loved going and watching but never seemed interested to race myself hence why I went down the Mountain Bike Racing route. I bought a Motocross Bike to help with my training but after a while I enjoyed it so much, I moved from Mountain biking to Motocross. Have met some great friends in this sport, not such a fan of the cleaning after a day's racing though!

What has been your favourite race to date and why?

I think it had to be at a Motocross track in Plymouth in 2014, it was the first day I managed to get into the top 5 overall on the day and got my first trophy, was only a small one but gave me such motivation to push forward and train more.

What is your proudest achievement?

In 2014 I took part in my first proper season, I managed to pick up some sponsorship from a local car dealership and entered the whole series. I really enjoyed that year, everything clicked, and I went onto finish 3rd overall in the Junior Championship which was my best result in racing.

Have you ever had any racing disasters?

In 2018 I had a poor start to the season but managed to start getting some points back towards the end. I went into the penultimate round looking to break the top 10 overall but crashed hard in the first race. I thought I just had a dead leg as couldn't walk very well, did the last two races but something wasn't right. I went to the doctors two days later only to find I had broken my Fibula in my leg!

How do you overcome setbacks?

I think previously I would always take setbacks quite badly, I would always then put a lot of pressure on myself which would generally then make things worse. I've learnt now to take a step back, review the situation and look at the bigger picture.

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?

Always look at the bigger picture! Make sure you have fun and don't take anything too seriously.

What are your goals?

As long as I come away from an event knowing I have tried my best then I would take that as a goal achieved.

Who inspires you?

Motocross is a dangerous sport, I admire any rider who has come back from a serious injury to continue in the sport and achieve their goals and ambitions.
