Josh is a junior athlete who has high hopes for the future. He talks to Sundried about his aspirations as a triathlete.
Have you always been into sport?
Yes, from an early age I have always been sporty, playing football and cricket for my local teams.
What made you decide to enter the world of triathlon?
I was interested in the sport and wanted to compete and learn more about it.
What’s been your favourite race to date and why?
Mallory Park Inter Regional Champs, because the opportunity to experience such a high quality race with the best athletes was brilliant for me.
And your proudest achievement?
Coming 3rd at the North of England Cross Country, it was a result I really wasn’t expecting, but I had the perfect race and felt really strong.
Have you ever had any racing disasters/your toughest race yet?
My toughest race yet would have to be at one of the 1500m races at the Trafford AC Grand Prix Open, where I fell over after 100m due to clipping somebody’s shoe and was stepped on by somebody with spikes. I still managed to finish the race and I still have the scars to this day!
How do you overcome setbacks?
Personally, I would not think about the setback in particular, but focus on the comeback and how I will carry it out.
What are your goals for 2020?
To compete and hopefully place well in British Super Series events, and to improve as an athlete.
Who do you take your inspiration from?
Professional athletes who have incredible work ethics and great discipline, but also my fellow athletes as my competitive nature compels me to put my best into every session.
What do you like about Sundried and what’s your favourite bit of our kit?
I like the fact that Sundried has collections made from 100% recycled materials, as climate change is a very big issue in today’s society.
