Have you always been into sport?

I’ve always enjoyed sport, since the playground in primary school I’ve always been active and my competitive nature always made sport a big part of my life.

How did you first get into triathlon?

When I started high school I was looking for new hobbies, I had tried lots of different sports but never really settled to one. But when I tried a session at my local triathlon club ‘Tri-Energy’ I loved the combination of all three sports into on event.

If you are interested in getting into Triathlon, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available.

What has been your favourite race to date and why?

I was fortunate enough to race at the Home International Cross-Country in Stirling at the start of 2020. Nothing compares to the excitement of the starting gun and 50 of the UK’s top athletes charging across a muddy field!

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement was being awarded Wyre-Forest District Junior athlete of the year in 2019. I’d had a really strong year of racing including racing at the English Schools track nationals in the 1500 meter steeplechase.

Have you ever had any racing disasters?

At the end of my 2018 track season I struggled with an ankle injury that I got from falling over a steeplechase barrier. Those that have raced the steeplechase know that those 90kg wooden barriers do not budge if you’re unlucky enough to fall over one. However, being my first proper injury it taught me how to overcome those sorts of setbacks.

How do you overcome setbacks?

Positive mindset and preparation are the two most important parts of a setback. Preparation ensures no matter what happens you’re ready to deal with it and a positive mindset partnered with this ensures you can overcome any setback.

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?

If I could give advice to myself when I was starting running it would be to enjoy every race as it comes. A lot of athletes make the mistake of focusing on one specific race every year and using the other races as preparation. However, I believe its best to enjoy every opportunity you get to race.

What are your goals?

I would love to eventually race for the English national team in cross country or track.

Who inspires you?

I’ve had many great coaches throughout my life who have inspired me greatly. I was lucky enough to be coached by a local runner Sam Lloyd-Perks who has pursued his running career in the states. He always ensured that I loved running rather than just training to race well and his pure love for the sport inspired me to be the athlete I am today.
