Chris Bryan-Isaacs - Athlete Ambassador
Have you always been into sport?
I mainly got into sport at 13 when I tried rowing as my summer sport and I’ve been hooked ever since.
How did you first get into triathlon?
I got my first taste of triathlon at the age of 11 when I did a “kids of steel” event, triathlon then took a back foot as I wanted to focus on my rowing but now that that’s winding down I’m looking forward to trying triathlon/cycling again.
If you are interested in getting into Triathlon, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available.
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
My favourite race to date is the Henley Temple challenge cup race against Bristol university. Was neck and neck all the way and we managed to beat them on the line. Was made special as Bristol are the local rivals for my university and we had lost to them earlier in the year.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement has to be the bronze medal in the lwt 4- at bucs in 2020. We won it by less than a second over a 19 minute race.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
I've had so many racing disasters, main one would be not making the final by 0.14 seconds as we misheard the finishing buzzer.
How do you overcome setbacks?
Single mindedness. If you don’t succeed go away train harder and try again.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
The advice has to be listen to and look after your body. When it comes to injury don’t try to rush back and accept that injuries are a part of life!
What are your goals?
My current goals are to become competitive in my new sport be it cycling or triathlon. As it will require a different skill set, training attitude and programme from my current sport of rowing.
Who inspires you?
4 people who mainly inspire me are; Steve Redgrave, Pete Reed, Jan Frodeno and Chris Froome. All for different reasons but all have had setbacks throughout their careers that they dealt with admirably.
Why work with Sundried?
I'd like to work with Sundried as I admire their attitude toward sustainability and the links they have with various charities.
