George and Sean 2fatmen2ironmen - Athlete Ambassadors

Have you always been into sport?

Yes we have both played sports throughout our lives.

George played rugby, football, and swam at a decent level as a child. And then joined the army so kept playing sport throughout that career.

Sean played football growing up, has always loved cycling and was competing in mixed martial arts.

How did you first get into triathlon?

We were both working on ICU during the Covid pandemic. And sadly both put on quite a lot of weight so decided that we would sign up to an Ironman and get fit. We have both lost 3 stone and now probably the fittest we have ever been.

If you are interested in getting into Triathlon, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available.

What has been your favourite race to date and why?

We both loved the Iron Man 70.3 in Bolton. It was so well ran and it showed that the dedication and hard work had paid off.

What is your proudest achievement?

George - for me it was passing the pre parachute selection course in the army and serving my country. In a sporting capacity, playing rugby at Twickenham was up there and the 70.3 finish line was also pretty special. The Ironman UK finish line next year is the big one.

Sean - Ironman 70.3 because of the quick turn around from thinking I had bad knees/too old to learning to push myself.

Have you ever had any racing disasters?

Sean on the 70.3 lost all his nutrition within 10 miles of the bike ride due to bad admin so that’s one to learn from ha.

How do you overcome setbacks?

George- I've had various injuries through the years and it gets you down. But now looking back I've realised these are just speed bumps in the training and rest and rehab are as important as the training itself.

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?

There are more brands out there other than the BIG makes.

What are your goals?

Ironman UK next year. And then what’s bigger and better we need some inspiration after that. I’ve been looking at the marathon de sables, so let’s see how we get on.

Who inspires you?

I’ve just finished David Goggins' book and really enjoyed that. And just sat down with Alistair Brownlee's book so I'm sure I'll find some inspiration from that.
