Going out adventuring can be amazing fun. However, looking good while doing it can be a pretty tough feat! A lot of hiking, trekking, and climbing clothes are boring and lack finesse, so make sure you've got the fashionable side covered as well as the practical. Clothes that look good can be technical and practical too! Here, Carlos wears the Sundried Ortler Tee and Furgler Shorts to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
You've heard the phrase "look good while you sweat" in numerous activewear marketing campaigns but it always seems like a load of rubbish, right? Perfect models sprayed with a little water to look sweaty and wearing pristine sportswear. Well, here Carlos has just finished an intense circuit-training workout and is really feeling it! You need your activewear to still be comfortable even after a super tough workout where you might be looking a little dishevelled! Sundried's tanks and tees feature exceptional sweat-wicking technology so that you don't chafe and even anti-odour technology too.
Looking good before and after your workout can be important, too. These days, the athleisure trend is meaning more and more people are wearing sportswear as casual wear and gym clothes are replacing jumpers and jeans for many people. Make sure you look cool and comfortable by layering a loose yoga top over your sports bra and gym top with complementary colours and styles.
In this digital age, more and more people are turning to online retailers for their shopping needs. However, this does not come without its problems and there are lots of things to look out for when buying online. We guide you through the tricky process of buying activewear online.
One of the most important things to be careful of when buying women’s activewear online instead of from a sportswear store is sizing. You want your workout clothes to fit well and look good, which can be tough when you can’t try it on before you buy. Check that the retailer you’re looking to buy from has an activewear size guide, as gym wear from different brands can come up in different sizes; a size large for one brand might be completely different from a size large from another.
Not only is it important to check their activewear size guide, it’s also very useful to check a brand’s customer reviews. No one will be more honest than someone who has already purchased athletic wear from this particular retailer. See if there are any answered questions and comments about sizing, this will help you hugely when choosing your ladies gym wear.
There are so many different fabrics and materials available these days, so it’s useful to do your research first before making an investment in expensive gym clothes. With ethics and sustainable fashion being on the rise, there are lots of brands offering sportswear for women made from recycled materials. These responsibly-sourced and sustainable fabrics feature superior technology and are perfect for fitness clothing as they feature sweat-wicking, four-way stretch materials, and other benefits.
Here at Sundried, we live by the motto that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Nowadays, fast fashion is prevalent and if the activewear you're looking to buy is very cheap, it's likely that the people in the supply chain are being treated unfairly. On the other end of the spectrum, just because the activewear brand you're looking at is very expensive that doesn't mean you're getting what you pay for. It's good to find a middle ground, whereby the price is a little higher but you know you're getting exceptional quality.
Training throughout the summer can be tough, especially when battling a heatwave. We give you a run down of all your summer workout essentials and what to look for in summer activewear so you can sweat it out with no worries.
Best Leggings For Women In The Summer
Undoubtedly, the best leggings for women in the summer are Capri leggings. Named after the stunning isle of Capri in Italy, these leggings are cropped in length and present in a 3/4 length, meaning they finish just below the knee or mid-calf. If you don't feel comfortable working out in gym shorts but are getting too hot in your running leggings, cropped leggings are the answer.
There are lots of types of cropped women's workout leggings to choose from as they can vary in length. Some will finish right at the knee while some may be a little longer and finish mid-calf. Choosing the right length for you will depend on how much movement you require and how much coverage and protection you need. If you do a lot of trail running, you will benefit from a slightly longer pair of leggings, while someone who practises a sport like tennis or running may enjoy the freedom of movement and temperature control from a short pair of leggings.
Mens Activewear Tops
There are lots of different types of activewear tops for men to choose from, and plenty that are suitable for summer. Avoid the compression gear and base layers and opt for an ultra cool t-shirt or vest instead.
Men's Ultra Cool Gym Top
When the weather really heats up, an ultra cool gym top can be your saviour. There's nothing worse than sweating it out in a stuffy gym, so being comfortable in your men's gym top is paramount if you're going to have a good session. Look out for tops that feature superior sweat-wicking so that you don't experience chafing and super soft materials that are kind to your skin.
If you find you're constantly getting too hot during your workouts but you don't feel comfortable in a vest, then an ultra cool t-shirt is the perfect solution. The short capped sleeves will give added protection and activewear made from recycled materials can dry 200 times faster than cotton, meaning you won't be constantly drenched in sweat and suffering under a heavy t-shirt.
Gym Vest For Men
The ultimate top for working out the summer has to be a great gym vest. For men, you want your tank top to give adequate coverage and protection while still keeping you cool and allowing freedom of movement. Look out for sleeveless t-shirts which present flattering designs and motifs that accentuate your best features.
There are different types of gym vest for men from tank tops to sleeveless tees and racerback stringers. Depending on the type of training you do will help you to decide which style is best for you. Bodybuilders tend to opt for stringers as they can show off your hard-earned physique better, while a sportsman might need more protection and coverage from the fabric and so will go for a sleeveless t-shirt which is more structured. In any case, you want a gym top made with four-way stretch materials so that you can move as much as you need without being restricted.
Mens Gym T-Shirt
The most classic of all styles is the gym t-shirt. Choose from more tight fitting designs which are great for running and cycling as they are more streamlined to a looser fit which is good for yoga or bodybuilding as you have more freedom of movement.
In any case, you want a t-shirt that fits well, is flexible, and wicks sweat. Add to this smart designs and stylish lines and you have the ideal combination. Look for fitness clothing that is light in colour as this will reflect the sunlight and stop your clothing from absorbing too much heat. Also look out for premium materials such as recycled polyester as these dry very quickly and provide additional technology such as UV protection and anti-odour capabilities. This will mean your activewear is working with you to keep you comfortable under tough conditions.
Yoga Clothes For Women
Yoga is something that is often done in high temperatures anyway - hot yoga anyone? - and so yoga clothing is often designed to be comfortable and withstand lots of sweating when it matters. As such, yoga clothes can be the perfect choice in the summer when you need something comfortable for your workouts.
Loose flowing yoga top
If you don't need to be aerodynamic for your workout, a loose flowing yoga top will be perfect. The loose design will mean you have lots of freedom of movement and won't suffer from sweat-soaked fabric clinging to your body. It will also mean you can enjoy better air flow while you move and you are more likely to feel comfortable.
Sports bra crop top
Yoga is a very low impact activity and as such you won't need an industrial-strength sports bra to keep you in place. This can be a huge benefit if you want to wear a very loose-fitting top as you can layer under it a crop top-style sports bra. Choosing a sports bra in a crop top style gives you more coverage and will mean it looks stylish and attractive on its own so you don't have to wear anything over it.
2-in-1 yoga shorts are the perfect choice as the compression-style under-short will give you protection and coverage no matter how much you contort your body, while the looser over-short will add style and features a subtle zip pocket for your valuables.
One of the worst things about training in the summer is suffering from itchy and chafing sportswear. If this affects you, then seamless activewear is the answer. This style of sportswear is a design innovation and means that itchy, chafing seams are a thing of the past. It's fully breathable and made with 4-way stretch materials so you can move as much as you need without being held back. The super soft materials are kind to your skin and will allow you to have a great workout without worrying about your activewear.
If you're working out in the summer, one of the most important things to have with you is a water bottle. These days, single-use plastic bottles are very much being scrutinised and rightly so. At Sundried, we believe in ethics and sustainability, which is why we developed our best-selling reusable water bottle so that you can help tackle the global plastic pollution problem and end the waste of single-use plastic.
Choosing a reusable water bottle can be good for your health, too. Our water bottle is BPA free meaning your health won't be compromised by prolonged exposure to the chemicals used to make certain plastics. Not only this, it is shatter-proof and leak-proof so you can throw it into your gym bag or even drop it off your bike and it won't flinch. Stay hydrated the right way!

Mens gym clothing uk
If you want to upgrade your gym clothing wardrobe then there are a few key pieces of gym clothes for men that you should be investing in. Here in the UK, we have cold winters and recently have been having incredibly hot summers, so you need to make sure you've got the right ratio of gym tops, vests, shorts, trousers, and leggings to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.
Summer gym clothing for men
In the summer, you will be sweating buckets before you even make it into the gym so you need to make sure you're comfortable. Sweat-wicking gym t-shirts and sleeveless vests will prevent chafing and will make you feel light and free instead of weighed down and uncomfortable. Less is more in summer and you'll want light and breathable fabrics, ideally crafted in a seamless design which will move as freely as you do.
When it comes to gym bottoms, you'll want to stick with loose shorts that will give your legs as much air as possible. If you do a lot of running, cycling, or yoga then it'll be vital that you're comfortable and not feeling restricted in sweaty leggings or gym trousers. Save those for the cold winter days!
Winter gym clothing for men in the UK
Compared to countries like Canada and Russia, a UK winter is relatively mild. However, when you're a UK native, anything below 0 degrees Celsius is enough to warrant getting the gym leggings out and layering up for your workouts. A lot of gyms these days are in old warehouses rather than cosy leisure centres, and so you'll still need to wrap up warm even though you're training indoors.
A good base layer such as a long sleeved compression top worn under a gym t-shirt will be the perfect way to combine performance with comfort and make sure you're not getting cold between sets. If the majority of your training consists of lifting weights, you can even get away with wearing a thick winter pullover hoodie which will be sure to keep you warm and comfortable. If you tend to do more cardio at the gym, this might not be such a sensible option.
A good pair of men’s workout trousers are essential for a successful training session. There’s a wide variety of gym trousers out there and it's essential to partner the right pair of workout trousers with the right workout.
Types of Men’s Gym Trousers
These are probably the most popular choice of gym trouser for men: comfortable, warm, and with a relaxed fit. Most people have at least one pair of sweatpants and they’ve been embedded into our workout wardrobes since school gym lessons. Sweatpants have earned their popularity through superior comfort, made with cotton which is highly breathable and doesn’t chafe. It does however absorb moisture and can take a long time to dry, so it's not ideal for sweaty cardio sessions.
Mens running tights are most commonly made with a synthetic blend of materials to protect against wind chill, provide warmth, wick sweat, and prevent chafing and rashes. These technical tights often offer performance-enhancing properties such as reflective strips, compression, and mesh panelling.
Compression trousers support your muscles with a tight fit, however the jury's out on the multitude of other benefits compression clothing claims. Compression clothing has been linked to reduced swelling, reducing DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) , the ability to squeeze blood back to the heart to prevent fatigue, reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis and even stabilise the knees to reduce the risk of injury. Although there is some evidence supporting these claims, the research is not that wide which often leads to debate around the area.
Cargo trousers were originally designed for use by the military, so they have a very versatile style, with lots of storage space. Cargo trousers make great transitional trousers from work to the gym, or for the ‘all day active’ types because of their functionality. Designed with a snug waist and relaxed fit. These trousers are usually made with weather and tear resistant materials due to their use in difficult military training conditions.
How to Fit Men's Gym Trousers for Big Legs
Those who don’t skip leg day, cycle a lot, or are just blessed with muscular legs will know that finding gym trousers which fit around their quads and calves can be difficult. Trousers which are meant to have a relaxed fit can end up looking like compression tights, or worse, not even make it above your knee. Follow these tips when fitting your trousers to ensure the perfect fit.
- Don’t buy trousers based on your waist measurement. Whilst those who have the body type for a regular fit may get away with it, if your legs are broader opt for a few sizes up to ensure that your legs have space in the length.
- Opt for a personalised waistband. A personalised waistband will either be elasticated, have a drawstring, or both. This way you can ensure that even though you’ve bought a larger waist, you can still tighten up your trousers so they don’t slouch when you squat, or worse still fall down.
- Do a sit test. Sit down in your trousers and make sure they don’t pull and strain, if they do, go up a size, whilst you can adjust a larger waist, you can’t add more material to the legs.
Men’s Regular Fit Trouser Measurements
As well as having the right fit around the waist, you should always make sure your mens gym trousers are the right length, whilst a little extra material won’t matter too much in your weekend wardrobe, when you’re getting active you can trip or fall on a trouser leg that’s too long.
