Aaron Jones Personal Trainer

Aaron has come a long way in his own fitness journey and uses personal experience to help his clients achieve their goals. He shares Sundried's ethical values and now lives in the Rocky Mountains in Canada.

Please tell us about sporting events you have taken part in or have coming up

When I was younger I played sports in school - mainly athletics (track & field) and rugby. In the last couple of years, I have run for charities (fun runs) mostly in Australia where I really kicked off my fitness journey

Tell us about your journey to fitness? Where did it all start?

My journey to fitness was a slow starter when I was younger, as I enjoyed my sports but was very body conscious. Back in 2013 I left home again and went to Australia - there I joined a gym whilst doing my agricultural work to obtain my 2nd-year visa with a friend who was very into fitness; they helped me kick start my journey. I lost 15kg over 3 months by writing my own program and sticking to my own nutrition plan.

What are your training goals now?

My current training goals are overall fitness, cutting my body fat, and doing hypertrophy training, as being home the last year and a half affected my training and nutrition.

Tell us one unusual fact we wouldn’t know about you:

I suffer from a diagnosed form of OCD and part of this is being a massive clean freak!

What would future you, tell yourself when you were starting out?

Even though the path is visible, it will take time and perseverance to complete the challenges ahead.

Do you follow a specific nutrition plan? If so, what/when do you eat?

At the moment, I have shakes with oats for breakfast as they are great on the go and meal plan my evening meal in bulk and freeze it. It is usually my homemade chili as I LOVE IT! Other than that I try to snack and eat healthy every couple of hours to keep my metabolism burning away.

What do you do to keep your clients motivated? Do you have any top tips to keep motivated?

I am a positive person so I am always giving feedback and advice that will help on their journey. Also as I have been through the journey myself I am always quick to lend a listening ear and help find a solution to any problems.

Talk us through your training regime.

I alternate over 3 days. Chest & Triceps, Biceps & Back, then Legs & Shoulders. I always incorporate cardio where and when I can as I enjoy it and its great to burn fat after your muscle workout. I try to mix up my regime and change it from time to time.

How do you keep your fitness knowledge up to date?

I read blogs, follow fitness companies and trainers on social media, research new science, and read up on the findings. There's always new science or findings. I also like to do fresh courses.

What are your top 3 trainer tips?

  1. Little is better than nothing. It's better to do some training, even if it's just light work.
  2. Cardio is best after your workouts as it burns fat stores.
  3. If you don't know, ask. If you need help, there is always someone out there that is happy to lend a hand.

If you could only do one workout for the rest of your life, what would it be?

SQUATS! I love squats, be it with dumbbells, barbell, or even just body weight.

What are your training goals?

I would love to build a solid foundation. Lower my body fat to show maximum muscle definition with better body strength than I have right now and hypertrophy. Maybe one day I will compete.
