If you have only ever trained in a gym then you are certainly missing out of the really cool world of training outdoors. The environment around you, outside your home, close to work as so much to offer. The next few weeks our training is focusing on the beach. With a particular focus on high intensity exercises. We may not all be fortunate enough to be able to get to the beach daily, but try out your local park. It doesn’t even need to be big for interval training.

Beach Running

The good thing with training outside is that it is interesting. We have all pounded out miles on a running machine. Although there is nothing wrong with it, it is not nearly as exciting as running intervals on the beach using the groynes to assist with raised press-ups. Training outdoors is great. You can create your own targets and goals  and it is easy to monitor your progress. And it’s free!

High Intensity Pressups

Try. 10x running between the groynes, there fast, back slow(er). Followed by pushups and some squat jumps. Repeat all of this 2, 3 or more times. What a great workout.

Remember your heart-rate monitor if you have one. It helps keep up the intensity!
