No Whey Box Vegan Protein Review
Whey Box is a brand that Sundried has had the pleasure of partnering with a lot over the past year, so we were stoked when they sent us some of their new vegan 'no whey' protein to try! Here's what we thought.
Salted Caramel
If you've read many of my previous articles, you'll know I'm a bit of a salted caramel fiend and can be very critical of this flavour as it is difficult to master! However, the guys at Wheybox have done themselves proud with this protein powder as it mixes very well and tastes heavenly.
Each 25g portion contains 105 calories and 18g of protein which is very good for a vegan protein source. I found that the powder blends really well, especially with almond milk, and it tastes so good! This would be great mixed into a dessert, such as protein mousse, as it is so decadent.
Chocolate
Chocolate will always be the classic, safe flavour to go for when choosing a protein powder, whether it's vegan or not. I'm happy to report that the No Whey Box chocolate protein is no different! It mixes really well and the chocolate flavour is divine. This flavour of protein also contains fewer calories than the others, albeit by only 2!
Vanilla
I had a bad experience with a vanilla protein powder once so I was keen to try this one and change my mind on the flavour! The bad experience I had was because the protein powder did not mix well and tasted absolutely vile. Thankfully, the No Whey Box vanilla vegan protein powder mixes very well and tastes great! The vanilla flavour is very authentic and doesn't taste artificial or overly-processed.
Blueberry
I used my blueberry flavour sachets to make the delicious recipe that was sent on a recipe card with the protein packets. The recipe was for vegan blueberry muffins and utilised the blueberry protein sachet which smelled exactly like real blueberries! As soon as I opened the packet, I was met with the most delicious aroma and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there appeared to be real blueberries included within the ingredients, not just colourants and flavourings.
The recipe turned out very well and the muffins tasted great! The vegan protein powder was the perfect addition to the recipe and meant that this already healthy snack had an added protein boost, too.
Gingerbread
Gingerbread was one of my favourite flavours of the original Wheybox protein powders. To my delight, the vegan version is no different and still has the cheeky ginger tinge and deep, rich flavour that I love. It gives the protein shake a very full flavour and it's actually quite moreish! This flavour would be perfect for making some tasty vegan gingerbread treats, and I will certainly be trying that next!
