Stephanie Rakhshani - Athlete Ambassador
Have you always been into sport?
I love sport before I got into triathlons I have always been into running (I ran a half marathon and a couple 10k’s) I used to play netball and I also have a horse so ride my horse 3 times a week.
How did you first get into triathlon?
Exactly 2 years ago in July I said I was going to train and enter our local triathlon. I first rode a road bike in July 2019 and entered my first ever triathlon in August 2019.
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
My favourite race has the be the Bude Triathlon back in June this year (2021). Competing on home ground was insane, the support on the sidelines was crazy and I just loved every minute of it.
What is your proudest achievement?
Hitting a PB on my 5k run at the Torquay Triathlon this July (2021) I’ve been having terrible knee problems but my coach recommended a new pair of trainers and it’s fixed my knee resulting in a PB for 5k during a triathlon race, super chuffed.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
Not that I can think of!?!
How do you overcome setbacks?
So my knee has been causing me problems from March - June this year I’ve been having to avoid running but just kept my swimming and cycling up. Now I have a new pair of trainers I’m back in the game.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
I’m really lucky that I have a lot of support and advice from fellow triathletes. So I would say to anyone new to the triathlon sport no one is perfect at every discipline, people always have one weakness, so I think it brings everyone onto a level playing field and I cannot believe how friendly and welcoming the triathlon world is.
What are your goals?
To compete in a 70.3 (half Ironman) one day.

Lucy Charles Barclay shes a triathlon queen.
