Have you always been into sport?

Always, as long as I can remember I have always been competitive and really struggle to resist any sporting challenge.

How did you first get into triathlon?

Sitting at home in a neck brace with a rugby injury I was watching Julie Moss crawl in Kona Iron Man on Transworld Sport and thought 'that looks tough, where do I sign up?'

If you are interested in getting into Triathlon, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available.

What has been your favourite race to date and why?

Challenge Roth, I was drafted in as a late replacement to a team as the swimmer a good few years ago and it was just an amazing atmosphere and with a wonderful home-stay. I vowed to go back and compete as an individual - I did in 2018, it was equally as awesome and a lovely part of Germany. There is just nothing not to like about the race.

What is your proudest achievement?

From a sporting perspective - Planning, leading and completing successfully the Countess of Wessex, Duke of Edinburgh Awards Diamond Jubilee bike ride from Edinburgh to London, raising considerable funds and awareness.

Have you ever had any racing disasters?

I've had loads - from bike crashes, to forgetting all my personal nutrition on an Iron Man race day, missing a turn and getting lost on a bike course, missing a wave swim start while taking a pee and chasing off after the rest of the pack 2 mins behind... the list goes on....

How do you overcome setbacks?

I like to think I am quite pragmatic and have good mental-flexibility, so I can re-adjust plans and goals mid-race and still achieve a positive outcome.

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?

Sleep is important!

What are your goals?

To live a long and healthy life allowing me to compete in triathlon as long as possible.

Who inspires you?

Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds United Head Coach) - he is an outstanding coach and leader who has the complete respect of his players, his employers, his peers and the fans. He has turned what looked like ordinary Championship players into established Internationals, developing a strong team ethos. Rebuilding the Club (not team) his phenomenal attention to detail and work ethic has taken the whole club to new heights and not once has it been about himself.

Why work with Sundried?

I am super-keen on supporting quality, ethical, UK brands, particularly if they promote sustainability. Sundried tick all of those boxes and more.
