Have you always been into sport?
I have been into sports for the last 21 years.
How did you first get into triathlon?
Triathlon was a new sport in Nepal. I was National Champion in mountain biking for 12 years. After having two babies, during and after I was always running as I didn't have to go far away from house like I had to while mountain biking. I just went to a nearby park and ran so that I could quickly come back home to my children. Triathlon was a new sport, there wasn't much competition so I wanted to try it. Also because I was scared of open water swimming, I wanted to overcome the fear. I have focused on swimming in pools and open water since 2018. In 2019 I represented Nepal in Triathlon in Sprint Distance in South Asian Games.

What has been your favourite race to date and why?
My favourite race is high altitude Triathlon in Nepal. It was above 3000 meters. It was climbing, running and cycling. It's my favourite because the view of the mountains are breathtaking and we won the race as a team. I overcame another fear of running down from the technical hill sections which was empowering.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement is participating in Mountainn Bike World Cup Finals in 2012 in France and being a first person from Nepal.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
Yes I had several racing disasters like brutal accidents, breaking of rear derailleur, breaking of chain, getting lost, punctures, stopped by angry bull etc during the races.
How do you overcome setbacks?
I keep going and learning from my mistakes.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Wish I was given advice about how very important the right Nutrition, Recovery and Conditioning are.
What are your goals?
To complete Full distance Triathlon, Swim 3.8 km, Cycle 180 km, Run 42 km which I am doing in June 6th which will make me first Nepali women to do it.
Who inspires you?
Women across the globe, women who beat men in the same race. A man who is doing Ironman distance every day currently. Makes me believe age is just a number. Makes me believe everything is possible.
