The Cotswold end of season triathlon returns to the beautiful lakes of Cotswold on 21st September. This Olympic distance race is the perfect way to end the triathlon season, before you return to your turbo trainer over the winter.
The end of season tri is an Olympic distance race featuring a 1500m lake swim, 41km cycle and 9km run around Lake 62 in Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire.
Registration and bike racking will take place on the morning of the event, timings are released with entrants race packs.
The swim will take place in the beautiful lakes of the Cotswolds. The event will be a deep-water start, with all swimmers starting in the same wave. Once completing the swim, you will prepare for the cycle stage for a two lap course around the Cotswolds taking in some fantastic scenery. The cycle course is fairly flat with a couple of gentle sloping inclines. Once completed you will drop your bike off for a spectator friendly run course around the lake.
Lake 62 is a privately owned lake, kept well in the Cotswold. Its size and shape allow great spectator views. The swim takes place with a deep water start where there is only one wave of entrants. Competitors are given a short race briefing in the water while they acclimatize to the temperature. With a little help out of the lake by the marshals, a short run up the beach will bring you to transition 1 where you’re ready to saddle up for the cycle.
Coaching sessions are also offered in the lake to perfect your open water swim prior to the event.
The cycle stage of the race is a fairly flat course around Cotswold taking in the local scenery. There are a few gentle sloping inclines but otherwise this is a great course for those wishing to achieve new personal bests.
The run features a trail course of laps around the lake. This course is mainly flat and spectators are able to line the course making it an exciting and motivating route.
