Have you always been into sport?
No not at all, I recently got into cycling after picking up a running injury at the start of the first lockdown. Since then I have the bug & cant stop, it was a way of getting out and about over large distances - whilst obeying the only allowed out once to exercise rule!
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
I completed a Sportive at the end of 2020 over extremely hilly terrain, I thought my legs were going to give up on me, but its all in the mind, your body can keep going if you push it
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
Few chain issues & gearing mishaps. Remember.. always check your bike after you have given it a good clean & make sure you put it back correctly!
How do you overcome setbacks?
Sometimes, if its not the day its not the day.. fuel correctly get a good nights sleep and try again another day.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Progress isn't only just increasing your average speed on a ride, you can progress in other ways - distance, ft ridden etc
What are your goals?
To complete my first 100 mile ride over hilly terrain, starting at Mam Tor in the Peak District
Who inspires you?
My Partner, he's a machine when it comes to endurance events, having completed an Ultra and he is also planning to row the Atlantic in 2023
