DHB ASV Roubaix Jersey Review

The DHB ASV Roubaix Jersey is something that will become a fast favourite in any cyclist's winter wardrobe. Female cycling apparel has come a long way in recent years, and brands like DHB have taken a step away from the flowery designs and given us ranges such as BLOK and now they have offered us something a little more technical.

DHB ASV Roubaix Jersey Review

The ASV professional range has been designed for those who are more than a leisure cyclist. The new range is perfect for "elite level riders and racers on the road all year round”.

Having tried the Jersey, I can confirm that it is warm. The temperatures have just dipped in Scotland and the rain is plentiful. The jersey is made from Italian Roubaix fabric which is waterproof and windproof, making it perfect for winter training.

It is a sort of cross-over Jersey in that it can be worn over an existing short sleeved jersey or merino base layer alone or under a jacket. It acts as both jacket and jersey, depending on how cold it is. I have been wearing it over a merino layer and it is fine alone just now.

DHB ASV Roubaix Jersey Review

Building up a decent sweat to test its breathability took a couple of big hills. I found that the fabric worked really well at keeping me dry and allowing sweat to escape and not leave me with that horrible ‘cold sweat’ feeling.

The construction of the jersey is very good. It feels thick enough between your fingers, yet remains lightweight. The collar is high enough to keep out the wind when it gets cold. The fit is tight. This is because it is aimed at racing cyclists, so if you want one for casual use, simply size up. It has a standard drop tail and three decent sized pockets for essentials. There is a zip pocket for keys and money, but it is too small for a large smartphone.

The back has a panel of stretch material that makes it feel comfortable when you are down in the drops concentrating on speed and pedal stroke. It boasts the same technical spec as the Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling team kit, so you know it is something very usable.

The colour ranges are bold and bright. This one was in black and hot pink and it comes in black/grey and black/turquoise too. The design is lovely for those who don't want floral. It has reflective detailing that make you feel visible enough.

Overall, the high collar, elasticated cuffs and design make it functional, warm and it looks great. The price isn't too steep for a jersey like this. At £52.50 it is a bit of a bargain and will be well used this winter.
