Reading boasts being the birthplace of UK triathlon, with the first ever event in the UK being held there in 1983. The event was reborn in 2010 and is now an annual event.

The event could be known as "The 110% triathlon" as the bike and run sections are 10% over the standard distances, but the organisers see it as you getting more for your money!

The Olympic Distance swim will be a 2 loop course and the Sprint Distance race will be a single loop.

The bike course starts on a closed road from the hotel grounds before heading out into some beautiful Berkshire countryside; it’s gently undulating but no more than that! For the Sprint you’ll complete one lap of 22km and it’s two 22km laps for the Standard Distance.

The run is 3 laps around a lovely lakeside trail for the Sprint event and 6 laps for the Standard distance.

Louth Triathlon Indoor Pool Swim Bike Run

    Date: Sunday 1st September 2019

Location: Meridian Leisure Centre, Wood Lane, Louth, Lincolnshire, LN11 8AR

Event Type and Distance: Sprint Triathlon 400m pool swim/22k bike/5k run

Amenities: Chip timing, indoor pool swim, prizes, medals for all competitors, secure transition, post-race massage

    Entry Price: From £30

This sprint distance triathlon is ideal for 1st timers as well as the more experienced triathlete. The swim is held in an indoor swimming pool in a leisure centre and the safe, secure transition area is in the neighbouring school fields. The bike course is relatively flat, although watch out for a few inclines which will force you out of the saddle.

The run takes you around some of the lanes in Louth and up an old disused train line along Railway Walk. The walk is very picturesque and a little hidden gem in Louth, and possibly the best part of the race. The water station is positioned so you can get liquid refreshment twice along the 2 lap course. Railway Walk will be closed to the general public on race day, so you can enjoy the tree lined path without interruption.
