Have you always been into sport?

I've been into sport since day one! I started playing Rugby from a very young age and then I had a crack at things like Tennis, Football and Golf before playing Field Hockey for quite a few years. Nowadays I'm in to my multi-disciplined fitness, where I currently race in Triathlons and I think it's great!

How did you first get into triathlon?

I actually got into Triathlons after my uncle recommended trying the local Triathlon that's just down the road from me and is on every year. After that I decided to build up the courage and give one a try, and I've never looked back!

What has been your favourite race to date and why?

My favourite race so far has to be Shropshire Triathlon, because each time I've raced that Triathlon, I've really improved on my swimming. It's a great feeling knowing that the work you put in for your training really pays off. 

What is your proudest achievement?

I'm proud of just being where I am in life currently. I have great family and friends who are really supportive and that I can reach out to. I feel very proud to have a good life. 

Have you ever had any racing disasters?

I fell off my racing bike pretty badly during the Ultimate 1/4 Triathlon in Whitchurch. I ended up cutting my arms, my legs and my ankles and I still had a 10k run to do at that point!

How do you overcome setbacks? 

I just dig deep, carry on and get things done. I try not to over think things too much. I concentrate on what I can control and I accept responsibility for what I do. I try to help others improve and also find people who can help me improve, because at the end of the day, we all want the best for ourselves!

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out? 

A quirky one, but I wish someone had told me about leaving coca cola to go flat and then using that as a drink during a Triathlon! It's a great source of sugar and it's easy to drink whilst you're racing!

What are your goals?

I want to race a full Ironman Triathlon eventually, as I currently plan on racing in a half Ironman Triathlon this year, which I've been training for.

Who inspires you?

I'm inspired by people who have the determination and desire to succeed. Anyone who is successful and has worked hard to get to where they are has my attention! I believe that if you put in the work, then you reap the rewards.
