Have you always been into sport?
Yes from around 8-17 years old I was a long distance runner, representing Wiltshire in Cross Country. My favourite lessons at school were always P.E. And up until around 18 months ago I was playing Basketball. I've been cycling since November 2020
How did you first get into cycling?
I got into cycling initially during lockdown to keep fit and help my mental health. I hadn't been on a bike for over 20 years but that first ride (5 miles) sparked a passion inside me and I haven't stopped since. I adore it.
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
I haven't participated in any races etc as it is still lockdown but I have signed up for Manchester to Blackpool for charity in July 2021.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement so far is completely turning my fitness around, I had gained over a stone in weight during the first lockdown as I had to close my business and admittedly did not do any exercise at all so in turn made me feel unmotivated and lazy. I promised myself I would make this lockdown a completely different one and it has been the most fulfilling and enjoyable time of my life!
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
I have had one accident a few weeks ago, apparently thin tyres and tram tracks don't mix well!!
How do you overcome setbacks?
When I had my accident I thought I had broke my hand so after a hospital visit thankfully it was just a bad sprain (wrist and thumb) which meant I had to take a break from going out as I couldn't grip brakes. But alas the power of a turbo trainer!! I bought one and soon got Zwifting until I was mended :)
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Don't ride near tram tracks!!
What are your goals?
I don't think I have an end goal but I am very much looking forward to the charity rides I want to get involved in. I am also wanting to go on a cycling holiday with my wife, I would love to cycle another country that would be amazing! Apart from that I am just loving life on my bike wholeheartedly.
Who inspires you?
My Instagram cycling community absolutely inspire me! What an amazing bunch of lovely, friendly and funny people. I haven't met any of them yet but I have been welcomed into this group with open arms.️
