Have you always been into sports?

I have played football since I was 3 years old, but moved on to basketball when I started secondary school. I became really good at it and played for a number of teams across London and even got to play in tournaments across Europe, and became a basketball coach later on. I was also involved in table tennis, and I skate too (quads and inline skates) whenever I have time available outside of cycling and training.

How did you first get into cycling?

I tore the meniscus in my left knee which meant I couldn't do any high impact activities. I realised that I could still use spin bikes in the gym and ended up getting a bike that I commute to and from work. I realised quickly that I loved cycling and riding with like-minded people. As a result I now go out on solo rides, and group rides where I get to exchange ideas and knowledge with other riders.

If you are interested in getting into cycling, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available.

What has been your favourite race to date and why?

I am training for my first race, after recovering from an injury, and look forward to the experience!

What is your proudest achievement?

My son is my proudest achievement, but in close second is becoming self-employed as a personal trainer and running a successful coaching business where I have helped people overcome minor and severe injuries.

Have you ever had any racing disasters?

As I am yet to join a race, I have had some disasters whilst training, such as my seat-post falling down, a car cutting across my path and taking me off my bike or the time I forgot to pack enough food/fuel for a lengthy training session and regretted it.

How do you overcome setbacks?

I have had many injuries over the years, so I am used to managing setbacks and long breaks from participating in sport whilst I heal and undergo physiotherapy. I have become so good at conducting my own rehabilitation I rarely have a need to book appointments with a trained specialist!

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?

Stretch and get a good night's sleep as many nights as possible. And always have a snack within arms reach on rides!

What are your goals?

To participate in races, and improve my overall fitness to a high standard, plus learn about bike maintenance and care.

Who inspires you?

People who have overcome emotional and physical difficulties. But specifically, Chadwick Boseman who battled cancer whilst working hard to bring joy to millions of fans who followed his work. I am also inspired by Laura Bates who created the Everyday Sexism Project and her work to address gender inequality.

Why work with Sundried?

I like that the company has strong values in relation to how they make their products in regards to sustainability, and the respect they have for their workforce. Personally, I like wearing Sundried clothing whether it's for cycling, in the gym or leisure; as the materials are light, comfortable and when I'm training hard, I'm able to stay cool and dry and look stylish at the same time!
