Have you always been into sport?
No, 3 years ago I was physically and mentally in a bad place health wise. Being a mum of 3 children I knew I had to sort myself out, thanks to joining the gym and starting my running journey. It’s fair to say its changed my life for the better physically, mentally and career wise.
If you're interested in starting your own fitness journey, Sundried's Activewear is suitable for people of all abilities.
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
My favourite race so far has to be the Vitality Big Half Marathon. Running around London and then getting a PB was amazing, plus it was the only race I got to do in 2020.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement is completing the virtual London Marathon in October 2020. It was my first marathon and because the main London event was cancelled, we could still take part but closer to home. To go from 3 years ago being 16 stone and couldn’t run, to now being 6 stone lighter and running a marathon, is something I never thought was possible.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
Sadly one disaster I had was back in 2019 when I injured myself and strained my hip flexor. It was a 10k and looking back I hadn’t rested before hand and had done too many races leading up to it. Ended up not running for a few weeks and learnt that I definitely need to rest and recover more.
How do you overcome setbacks?
Always tell myself that tomorrow is another day to try again, we can’t always get PB’s. We should take our sporting journey each day as it comes. We all have good and bad days, and the bad ones will definitely make us stronger
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Take your time and go at your own pace, never compare yourself to others and always listen to your body.
What are your goals?
I would like to complete a few more half marathons and full marathons and maybe a ultra in a couple of years time.
Who inspires you?
My Kids. Because they believe in me and I don’t ever want to let them down.
Why work with Sundried?
I found Sundried through social media and noticed they have created an amazing brand, that makes good quality sports wear that is made from sustainable materials. It’s very hard to find good quality sports wear that lasts, but after seeing reviews and other social media friends recommend Sundried I knew I wanted to also spread the word too.
I’ve just recently joined their online community and love that the community is made up of all different sporting individuals. People from fitness, running and triathlon all support one another.
