I am currently on the British Biathlon development squad. I train on roller skis at the Brownlee centre in Leeds and at York university. I have been on two training camps so far with the BBU since I became part of the squad in July. The camps have been in Hetton country park and in Llanelli, Wales. My next few camps will be in Avimore, Scotland and Idre, Sweden before my first competition in Germany.

Tell us about your journey to fitness? Where did it all start?

I started to play football age 4, and also attended athletics club on Saturday mornings. I went on my first ski holiday age 6 where I learned to downhill ski. I've tried various sports such as: rugby union, tennis, golf and swimming but always preferred football and winter sports.

What are your training goals now?

My training goals are to become fitter, stronger and faster and to keep improving my technique at cross country skiing.

Tell us one unusual fact we wouldn’t know about you:

One unusual fact about me is my first pet was a chicken called Woolly.

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?

I wish I was given more advice at a younger age on the importance of a good diet. I currently don’t have a proper nutrition plan, however I know I need to try new recipes and vary what I eat.

What do you do to keep your clients motivated? Do you have any top tips to keep motivated?

My tips to keep people motivated are to never give up, to believe in yourself and to remember the reason you started. 

Talk us through your training regime.

I aim to do 6 hours of roller skiing a week and 6 hours or more of other sports including: football, running, gym and cycling. I track my fitness on Strava.

How do you keep your fitness knowledge up to date?

I have just started a Btec course in sport at Huddersfield New College where I’m hoping to gain more knowledge on fitness in general.

What are your top 3 trainer tips?

  1. Train whatever the weather.
  2. Make sure you have rest days.
  3. Follow a good training plan that suits your level.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be Sausages.
