Have you always been into sport?
Yes for as young as I could remember I have been doing sport. My parents were heavily involved in Cubs and Scouts so by the age of 6 I was a confident climber and started sailing, from there on I was always up to something!!
How did you first get into triathlon?
I started as a cyclist doing just sportives and endurance events, and then I tried my first TT and soon become hooked. After 3 years I started getting itchy feet and my coach at the time suggested Triathlon. In my first year I went from Go Tri to 70.3 Weymouth, that was quite a journey!!
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
The Vatterundan by far, a 300km ride around a giant lake in Sweden, it was bonkers. Such a well organised event, an amazing challenge and one if did for a charity called Cyclists Fighting Cancer (CFC).
What is your proudest achievement?
That's easy, completing the swim in Ironman Weymouth 70.3. I struggled with lots of sea swimming fears and anxieties so I always said to finish the swim would be my 'win'.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
I did La Marmotte a few years ago in the blazing heat. I didn't fuel properly and was really dehydrated. At one point it was so hot the road was melting and I have black tarmac splatters on my legs!! I learnt a hard lesson that day, Hydration is King!!
How do you overcome setbacks?
I allow myself time to process, review and plan then I move forward. What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out? When i first started in Triathlon I guess it would have been really good to understand that the majority or triathletes have one of the disciplines they dont like and thats ok!!
What are your goals?
I would love to represent GB as part of the Age Group team at sprint distance.
Who inspires you?
Heather Jackson - Firstly she has a Grogoo teddy, Star Wars is very cool but mostly because she is comfortable to be her own person with her own style surrounded by other female athletes who have the appearance of being a 'typical' looking athlete.
Why work with Sundried?
I have kept my eye on Sundried products over the years and I like the way the clothing has evolved. Plus there are many features within the kit that only a sportsperson would know to add for practical reasons, like the pockets on the tri rucksack waist band, genius!
