Have you always been into sport?
Started enjoying sport at a young age, this carried on into my teenage years, where I did every sport I could, competed for my county a couple of times and studied PE & Sports Science at College & University.
How did you first get into triathlon?
After getting in to cycling in 2016 the last few years have been about getting fitter and stronger and decided in 2019 I needed a new challenge, so started running a bit and this lead to thinking maybe I should do a triathlon....and then it just sort of snowballed in to Ironman and wondering if I can make it to Kona.....
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
Not a race but 6 months after getting back on a bike I rode from London to Milan. An amazing experience, something that challenged me and I made life long friends.
What is your proudest achievement?
Representing Great Britain at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2018 & 2019
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
40kms into the 2018 world championships I suffered a knee injury, which put me out of the race for a result. It significantly hurt but didn't stop me, 90kms later somehow I hobbled over the finish line in 186th place.
How do you overcome setbacks?
For me it is about understanding what I can learn from the experience, then taking those learnings and putting them into future training.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Fuel your training, makes such a difference both on and off the bike.
What are your goals?
Current goal is to run pain & injury free......once that happens it's all about building towards Ironman UK and seeing how close I can get to a Kona slot in my 1st Ironman.
Who inspires you?
Personally I am inspired by my parents and their relentless drive, motivation, support of others and happiness in life, living it to the fullest.
