Kole Broadfoot-Cox - Athlete Ambassador
Have you always been into sport?
I started to get into sport when I was 12 years old, but I only played the popular sport for example rugby, basketball, tennis but I never realized that I was good at running until I started running in lockdown and when I started to get recognized by the club Northowram pumas.
How did you first get into running?
I first got into running when I was in lockdown in 2020, and I decided to take myself out for a run. The first distance I started was 10 miles, after that I really wanted to challenge myself so I set off one day and ran 20 miles. I enjoyed it that much that I continue to do it and joined a club called Northowram pumas after I completed my second ultra marathon at the age of 17.

What has been your favourite race to date and why?
My favourite race that I have completed is the ultra x summer series because it was a long distance as well it really challenged me mentally and physically and allowed myself to realize who I am.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest accomplishment is when I ran the UK Boston marathon on the 18th April and I came 25th overall and completed it in 2h 53m. It was one of my proudest achievement as it was my first ever marathon.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
I have had a racing disaster, when I raced the spen20 race and I started the race too quick and ran a fast running pace up to the 15 miles and I couldn't keep going so I slowly slowed down and lost 8th place and ended up in 17th place overall.
How do you overcome setbacks?
I overcome setbacks by looking at my results and finding the positives from the run and then figure out how I went wrong, then improving my mistakes.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
The advice that I wish I was given is to always look at the positives of every single race that goes wrong.
What are your goals?
My goals are to always improve myself in every way as possible but my main goal is to be able to run in different races that are based in different environment for long distances for example deserts, jungles and more.
Who inspires you?
The one person that has inspired me the most is a coach/friend called Joe Baker, he is also a runner. The reason why he has inspired me because he has started as a average runner and now has accomplished so much and has came a outstanding runner and set records on different races. This inspires me to keep working hard and to achieve my goals.
