Whensa your Dolmino day? No more than once a week.
Creators of Dolmino’s and Uncle Ben’s Mars Food have warned that due to their high fat, sugar or salt content, some of their products should only be consumed once a week.
The company this morning revealed that it will be marketing 5% of it’s products as for “occasional consumption” as part of the brand's health and wellbeing ambition to “create and promote healthier food choices”.
The list includes products such as Dolmino lasagne sauces, pesto, and Uncle Ben’s oriental sauces.
Mars nutritional criteria is developed based on recommendations from leading public health authorities such as the World Health Organisation.
Mars other products include chocolate bars and confectionary which will not be labelled differently as part of the initiative.
Mars global president Fiona Dawson said: “ Our nutrition criteria is sets a very high standard for our products, and we also want to help our consumers understand the difference between ‘everyday’ and ‘occasional’ products within a balanced diet.”
